New kitchen garden for the new year

Spent the last week of 2010 working in the garden to get the kitchen garden ready for the new year. It will be too hot for planting over the next few weeks so we’ll get the soil ready with sugar cane mulch and compost, but it’s good to have the hard work done.

There are six raised wooden beds, separated by brick paths, plus a brick raised bed you can see towards the back. In the autumn we’ll plant a small lawn in the area in between, in the dappled shade of the almond tree.
